Travis is the reason we advocate, but we fight for the future of all of our children - Awareness and Education are the first step to prevention.

Dear friends and supporters,

Our family understands the fear and isolation felt when a loved one is affected by this epidemic. We lived with the Substance Misuse, living in fear of what could happen and in frustration with not being able to find anyone who could help him. We need to make it easier for our loved one to get treatment and for their families to help them. But now we live the nightmare that every parent and their families fear. Travis died from Fentanyl Poisoning on February 24, 2021. When his heart stopped, ours shattered. We want to make sure that no other family lives with the pain we experience everyday.

Since we lost Travis, we have done whatever we can to share his story and spread awareness and educate our communities. We’ve lived from the beginning of the substance misuse, to the Substance Use Disorder and to the end, that for Travis and our family, the end was death.

We host fentanyl awareness events every August, we have an awareness booth that we take to the county fair and any where else that we are asked to present, we never say no to do an interview, we attend DEA Summits, support other families when they host events, write to and speak with congress. We want to continue to advocate and your donation of any amount will go a long way in helping us to reach more people, spreading awareness of the fentanyl epidemic and the SUD crisis to people who are so desperately in need of support and help in finding treatment or just compassion for their loss. People just want to see that there is hope that this will end and that there are people who are ready to reach out their hand to help them.

Your generous donation will help us to continue our advocacy, sharing awareness, connecting with families, distributing lifesaving Narcan, and doing whatever we can to make a difference in our children’s futures, as we also look forward to working with some of the smaller communities who need to hear from us. Our family thanks you for your support and will promise you that we will not give up until changes are made and everyone knows about the dangers our children face every day.

The Travis James Gustavson Foundation’s Mission is to raise awareness of the Substance Epidemic in our county, to educate, to stop stigma, and to work towards prevention in our communities, our states, and our country. We hope to knock down the stigma and barriers that are preventing people who suffer from Substance Use Disorder from getting the care and treatment they need. Treatment for this disease should be readily available for all. The issues we are addressing urgently need your support. Our loved ones are running out of time and our kids are depending on us to keep them safe. Please support us as we do that.
